Our Leading Decisions Platform
A specialized digital platform for the comparative analysis of laws, regulations, and landmark decisions on human rights.
What is
the Leading Decisions Platform?
The Leading Decisions Platform is a specialized digital tool for the comparative analysis of laws, regulations, and key judicial decisions on human rights. This major project, developed in partnership with the Digital Research Expertise Centre (CEN-R) at Université de Montréal, is funded by a grant from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) through the John R. Evans Leaders Fund, along with additional funding from the Government of Quebec for the development of its digital research infrastructure.
A Specialized Repository of Human Rights Decisions
The Leading Decisions Platform aims to facilitate the collection and analysis of a wide range of human rights decisions for comparative purposes, examining different reparative mechanisms, judicial bodies, and the rights at stake. By creating this specialized repository, the goal is to highlight points of convergence and divergence among grounds of discrimination and Canadian jurisdictions, as well as in relation to international protection standards.
Led by Professor Miriam Cohen and coordinated by Sarah-Michèle Vincent-Wright, the research team intends to integrate its findings into future recommendations aimed at strengthening human rights protections. Through this initiative, the Lab promotes individual and community empowerment by providing simplified and user-friendly access to relevant and accessible data on the current state of fundamental rights protection in Canada.
